It’s season finale time for E!’s Total Divas, and Part One of the Season 7 capper gets underway with a wacky RV trip that comes about via the strangest of circumstances: Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan are moving to their new house in Washington, but Bryan has vertigo and can’t fly or drive long distances, and Brie is tied to Birdie’s feeding schedule every two hours.
So, Natalya arranges a carpool with a couple of her family friends with an RV. The ladies are spunky and fun, but just out-there enough that Brie and Bryan decide it isn’t for them, and they’d rather just suck it up and fly from Sacramento, Calif., to Washington halfway through the road trip. All’s well that ends well when Brie, Bryan and Birdie safely make it to their new home to unpack and organize.
It’s the fourth episode of Total Divas, and needless to say, the drama is at an all-time high with these ladies, who don’t seem to know if they’re coming or going from the ring. This was one of those episodes where the focus was more on the drama, and less on the actual ringside battles, so this reviewer was a little disappointed. Still, it was a good time, as Total Divas tends to be.
So let’s get right into it.
Brie Bella gives us all a total AW! moment when she decides to donate her excess breast milk. You see, there’s an organization that allows mothers to donate their extra breast milk to other mothers who either can’t provide breast milk to their children for medical reasons, or who don’t produce enough milk for their offspring. (We didn’t know that, either.) She decides to do this when she takes a trip to the NICU and meets the mother of premature twins (I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying). To donate her excess milk to the organization, Brie has to go through a strict regimen of hydrating and pumping, because she has to give them 100 ounces a day. (For purposes of comparison, a gallon of cow’s milk in the dairy aisle is 128 ounces.) Naturally, concerned papa Daniel Bryan is concerned that his wife is pumping too much and won’t have enough for baby Birdie (who is the spitting image of Daniel Bryan), but all’s well that ends well, because Brie is apparently a human cow that produces enough for her baby and so, so many more.
And, as the organization says, “every ounce counts.”
Sometimes you gotta play dirty!
On this week’s episode of Total Divas, the ladies are proving that well behaved women seldom make history. It’s all about breaking the rules to get what you want, and that philosophy definitely worked in Lana’s favor.
As we saw in last week’s episode, Lana was told that she would no longer be wrestling. So she took matters into her own hands. After being informed by fans online that she didn’t actually get pinned by Trinity Fatu in her last match, she called for a rematch on social media.
Naturally, the hire ups were not happy about her “going rogue” and let her know that while she may be getting a rematch, this was a one time thing, and she’s on very thin ice.
She’s not the only one bending the rules to her favor. Trinity also took her career to a whole new level this week. She has worked hard to establish her brand and make “feel the glow” a major part of the WWE. The one thing she needed to up her game was a glowing champ title.
When you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Trinity shipped her title to a place that would put some sweet colorful LED lights and really make her championship shine bright. Guess what? It paid off! With great risk comes great reward.
While the other ladies are busy at work, Carmella was taking a nice little vacation with her man Big Cass. The couple took a trip to the city of angels and made a stop at Maryse and The Miz’s place. Well, they thought it was going to be a quick stop but Maryse thought they were staying the night.
Talk about awkward. They unfortunately had to break it to the couple that they wanted some much needed alone time, and of course, The Miz blamed Maryse for overdoing it. “You made it weird,” he joked with his overzealous wife.
Carmella and Big Cass weren’t the only ones taking a little vacation! Brie Bella and Nikki Bella were hitting the open road together with Birdie Joe Danielson. It was a short trip from Phoenix to San Diego, complete with car games, snacks and breastfeeding at a rest stop! A mama’s gotta do what a mama’s gotta do!
For the benefit of the H8RZ who believe that no one watches wrestling shows that take place out of the ring, Total Divas is here to school you for its seventh season (seventh!).
There are a few things that make Total Divas (and Total Bellas) different from other wrestling shows, but the biggest difference, of course, is that the stars of the show use their real names, not their ring names. It’s the reason that, for example, Daniel Bryan was referred to as “Bryan” throughout the episodes of Total Bellas this past season, and why Carmella (for example) will be referred to as “Leah.”
Our girl Nikki Bella, fresh off her ignoble exit from Dancing with the Stars (she was robbed, ROBBED we tell you!), will now serve as the executive producer of the hit E! show, because GET MONEY, NIKKI.
In the next Total Divas segment, Brie is playing with baby Birdie — who is the spitting image of her father, Daniel Bryan. We see a preview of Winston’s butt — whom, you will recall from this past season of Total Bellas, was the subject of a much-contested Puppy Custody battle between Brie and her twin sister, Nikki — and Bryan, who comes in and volunteers that he’ll be able to change baby Birdie if needed. Brie tells us that Bryan has received paternity leave, which she finds to be remarkable (even though many larger companies, today, offer fathers paternity leave in the same way they offer mothers maternity leave).
Ultimately, it’s Nikki who ends up feeding her niece, which is the perfect segue into her Total Divas segment, where she talks about her neck, her back, and…her engagement. (Was your mind in the gutter again?)
Nikki thinks that she would be a good substitute as GM on SmackDown, especially since Bryan is out on paternity leave, and especially since she can’t participate in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Back in the Bella house, the Danielson family is having a nice family moment when Bryan springs on Brie that he has to go to Toronto for work. Needless to say, Brie takes it as well as you think she would, but eventually accepts that “she’s got it” because Bryan gave her the confidence as a mother to feel as such.
A week before Money in the Bank, Nikki has a pre-event pool party (which is really hilarious to watch, considering how, outside of Total Divas, these women tear each other’s hair out — usually, reality shows are the other way around, in that real life is very fun, while the show is exaggeratingly dramatic, but that’s what makes this show fun).
Nikki and Nattie give Lana the best advice they have — with Nikki recalling her WrestleMania win — while also reminding Rusev that she’s not going to do anything that makes her hurt herself.
