In one sense, a bachelorette party is a last hurrah as the clock to marriage winds down: One final time to cut loose before midnight hits and wedded bliss pumps the breaks on your wilder impulses. The big question of E!’s new Total Bellas — the first of a two-parter — is why Nikki Bella isn’t interested in any of that.

The answer, obviously, is just out of everybody’s reach or isn’t quite ready to be spoken aloud just yet: Thanks to the increasing physical distance between them, Nikki isn’t sure she wants to marry John Cena anymore, and those feelings have intensified to the point where her bachelorette jaunt to Paris feels more like a regular girls’ trip than a bachelorette party. She’s determined to plow ahead and not succumb to those feelings, though, and she’s in pretty good company. Everybody in this episode has blinders on, refusing to acknowledge some kind of issue bubbling just below the surface, some of which carry deeper implications than others.

Kathy and JJ, for instance, are along for the bachelorette party and aren’t really sure how they got roped into it — neither of them seems to think it’s appropriate (to her credit, Nikki doesn’t either). So, they have a mother-son day in Paris, despite some nervousness from Kathy that’s very well-founded: The last time she was in Paris, the terror attack at the Bataclan nightclub happened, and she no longer feels safe there. Of course, sipping wine on a Ferris wheel is all well and good to calm the nerves, but JJ is perfectly aware his mother hasn’t properly dealt with her feelings from the last trip. But between a conversation with a local who promises Kathy that the city will always be safe and a visit to the Bataclan itself, they finally confront the issue and put some of the trauma behind them.

This is more than can be said for Nikki and Brie. Nikki is muscling through the weekend and getting glummer by the minute, and Brie Bella has no idea why. Her interpretation of her sister’s mood is just that she’s down in the dumps and getting boring before her time, so she spends the episode trying to goad Nikki into wacky bachelorette antics. None of them gain much traction, save for a handful of dares that just end up being more embarrassing to Nikki than anything. Nikki makes her feelings clear to the camera after a FaceTime with Cena that leaves her oddly deflated (it’s not a bad call, just another reminder that she doesn’t feel as close to him as she wants to), but she crucially hasn’t said anything to her sister, who’s hell-bent on getting Nikki to drop the “boo-boo face” without figuring out why it’s there.

Her solution, literally, is to cover it up. Knowing that Nikki is a big fan of classy ballroom-type parties, Brie and Lauren arrange for a masquerade ball at the chateau they’re renting, but something gets a little lost in translation, and they’re presented with a risqué variety of “Eyes Wide Shut”-style clothing options. Now they’ve got a ball to plan, hours to spare, and, though they don’t quite know it yet, a bride-to-be who’s having some serious second thoughts. The clock is ticking, in more ways than one.

With John Cena busy at work, wedding planning begins to take a toll on Nikki Bella during the July 8 episode of ‘Total Bellas.’ Here’s our recap of the episode!
There are eight weeks to go until Nikki Bella and John Cena’s wedding on this week’s episode of Total Bellas, and Nikki is gearing up for her bachelorette party. Plus, there’s the issue of choosing bridesmaids — Nikki initially let TEN friends know they could be in the wedding, but as time goes on, she starts realizing that would be way too much to deal with. Meanwhile, John is super busy with work, which leaves Nikki handling most of the wedding planning on her own.

Of course, that involves buying a wedding dress. Clearly, Nikki is cutting it close, and when she last went to look for dresses, she was left overwhelmed and questioning if she even wanted to get married. She’s much more calm this time around, though, and she finds the dream dress she’s been waiting for. Making the decision is a huge relief, especially for Nikki’s sister, Brie Bella, who’d been growing concerned about whether or not Nikki was even ready for marriage.

Still, having to make so many decisions on her own is taking a bit of a toll on Nikki, but luckily, Brie steps in to lend a hand. The first order of business is bridesmaids — as time goes on, Nikki realizes she must cut down her list, and opts to go with no bridesmaids at all, aside from two maids of honor (Brie and her cousin Kristen). Unfortunately, that means telling her friends they can no longer be in the wedding.

Over dinner, Nikki breaks the news to two of the girls, and although they’re upset, they urge her to do what she wants when it comes to putting a wedding together. Obviously, there’s a bit of relief once the conversation is over, but it’s clear Nikki is still struggling as her big day approaches.

As wedding planning gets more and more stressful, Nikki Bella turns to therapy to sort out her drama with John Cena. Here’s our recap of the June 24 episode of ‘Total Bellas’!

Nikki Bella and John Cena are together again and back to planning their wedding on this week’s episode of Total Bellas after he agreed to have a baby with her. There’s a lot of work to still be done, though — Nikki doesn’t even have a dress yet, and the wedding is just nine weeks away. Plus, Nikki needs to decide who will walk her down the aisle. She and Brie Bella have a strained relationship with their father, so it’s something she’ll have to spend some time considering. The girls’ mother, Kathy, is admittedly hoping Nikki will ask her to do it after she raised the kids as a single mom, especially since Brie had their estranged father do it.

The whole situation gets Nikki a bit stressed out and feeling like she has no control over planning her own wedding. She has a heart to heart about with her stepdad about the situation, but unfortunately, things get a bit awkward when he misinterprets the conversation as her asking him to walk her down! Eek! All the drama puts a bit of a damper on Nikki’s wedding planning — she’s simply not having fun throughout the process.

Nikki finds herself under even more pressure when John joins the family for dinner for the first time since she got back together with him. When the subject of kids comes up, John is noticeably quiet, and Nikki decides to visit her therapist to talk out everything she’s going through. Nikki admits that she fears growing apart from John because his career is taking off and never wants to hold him back. She also doesn’t want to lose her identity and independence by being “John Cena’s wife,” rather than “Nikki Bella.” All the second guessing leaves Nikki wondering — once again — if marriage with John is something that she’s ready for.

Nikki decides to get the family together and finally let everyone know who she wants to walk her down the aisle. She opens up to Brie about how miserable wedding planning has made her, and Brie realizes that something is definitely off with her sister. Finally, Nikki comes clean to her family members, and reveals she wants to walk herself down the aisle — it will be a way for her to celebrate her independence and empowerment.

Also in this episode, Brie and her husband, Bryan Danielson, work on spending alone time together for the first time since having their daughter, Birdie. Their romantic date doesn’t go as planned, though, when fans notice them and interrupt their picnic. Of course, they take the time to meet and greet their loyal followers, but it definitely puts a damper on the afternoon.

After the failed date, they give it a second try with some couples’ goat yoga. Again, it doesn’t prove to be relaxing or romantic like they wanted. Third time proves to be the charm, though — Brie and Bryan go back to one of their favorite places from before Birdie’s birth, the botanical garden, and it’s just what they needed.

John Cena and Nikki Bella get back together on the June 17 episode of ‘Total Bellas’ after he agrees to have surgery — so he’s no longer sterile — JUST to give her kids! Here’s our recap!

Nikki Bella is still dealing with how to publicly handle the demise of her relationship with John Cena on the June 17 episode of Total Bellas. She’s forced to put on a brave face and pretend everything is fine, and then…the news goes public. We see Nikki’s reaction to John discussing their relationship on the Today Show — yes, that famous interview where he professed his love. It leaves her confused because they haven’t talked since deciding to end things, so she doesn’t know why he’s saying all these things on TV and not to her.

Of course, the main issue in Nikki and John’s relationship is that she wants to have kids and he doesn’t, and she’ll finally get a chance to see what it’s like to really be a mom when she watches Brie Bella’s daughter alone for the first time. It’s admittedly an exhausting day, but assures Nikki that she definitely wants kids. She also uses the time to prove to Brie that it’s okay to hire help when she needs it — and calls in a nanny behind her sister’s back to help out while she gets a workout in. It actually ends up working, and Brie realizes that hiring a nanny would help her make the best use of her time.

Her relationship drama is put front and center once again, though, when John invites her to dinner and they finally have a chance to hash things out once and for all. Things are definitely a bit awkward at first. Nikki makes comes clean about everything that was bothering her, and John admits that he felt like she was giving him false hope throughout their relationship by not flat-out saying what she wanted when she wanted it.

His main issue is clear — just say what you want and how you feel — while Nikki is adamant that she just can’t see a life without having kids. However, John is worried that there may be a deeper issue, and he doesn’t want to have kids with Nikki just for her to still resent him for different reasons later.

She assures him that her only issue is possibly not being a mom, and John lets her know that he’s willing to make the sacrifice. Even though he physically cannot have kids, he’s willing to have surgery just to give her the child of her dreams. Wait…did John just confirm that he had a vasectomy in the past and now wants to get reversal surgery!??! The episode ends with them happily getting back together! However, as we now know, they’re still “just friends” in real life….so there’s still a lot of drama sure to come.

Nikki Bella is forced to focus on work as the All-Female Royal Rumble approaches on the June 10 episode of ‘Total Bellas,’ but she has a hard time amidst her drama with John Cena. Here’s our recap!

On this week’s episode of Total Bellas, it’s time for Nikki Bella to focus on work after calling off her wedding to John Cena. She and Brie Bella are preparing to compete in the first-ever All-Female Royal Rumble, and it’s a comeback in the ring for both of them. The girls head back to Tampa to train, and Nikki visits her home with John for the first time since their breakup. She’s surrounded by memories, and even finds a surprise card and bouquet of flowers from John inside.

She’s forced to put the drama out of her mind, though, as a week of intense training begins. Brie is worried that she won’t be the same wrestler now that she’s a mom, and fears that the fans won’t support her anymore. Meanwhile, Nikki is struggling with pretending everything’s okay between her and John in public, while things have fallen apart behind-the-scenes. Plus, her doctor is hesitant about her competing in the Royal Rumble match after her neck surgery.

Nikki catches a glimpse of John backstage at the event, and has a hard time knowing she can’t go to him for advice before the nerve-wracking match. The rest of her family members are also left bummed out when John doesn’t come by to say hi to them.

Despite everything going on in her personal life, Nikki is thrilled by the adrenaline rush she gets in the ring, especially after the crowd’s excited reaction to her appearance. Brie is even more nervous to get back in there, but she does so confidently and kills it. When Nikki and Brie both make the final three, Nikki eliminates her sister, and then finishes in 2nd place to Asuka.

Nikki Bella won’t be walking down the aisle anytime soon.

On this week’s Total Bellas, Nikki and John Cena have a tear-jerking conversation that just may be the end of our favorite WWE couple.

“For some reason, since Birdie’s been born and I’ve spent a lot of time with Birdie, it’s just brought up these feelings of really wanting to be a mom and I thought I could really sacrifice that and I just can’t,” Nikki said with tears in her eyes.

“I understand,” John responded. “It’s not choosing between having a child and having me, it’s wanting to have both.”

Though he was upset, John accepted that his resistance to becoming a father came with consequences like these.

“I’m not sure we should go through with this,” John insisted. “Because for us to do it and then later on undo it, kinda goes against the principal of everything.”

While Nikki couldn’t imagine herself without a baby, she also couldn’t imagine herself without John. “I just can’t imagine not getting married and spending the rest of our lives together,” Nikki confessed.

Those thoughts of a fairy tale life together made her reluctant to let him go.

“So we really want to call this off? Is that the only way?” Nikki asked. “Yeah,” a disappointed John said. “And I think you know it too. I’m sorry, Nicole.”

Their tearful goodbye proved to be hard on the entire family. After saying goodbye to John, Nikki’s mom Kathy came to her daughter’s side and it was clear she was devastated by the news.

“I feel so sad and in the same respect so very proud of Nicole for being so open and honest with John,” Kathy admitted. “Nicole has spent her entire life pleasing people and protecting people that for her to sit there and go, ‘What do I truly want? And is this going to make me lose the person I love that I know I should be with?’ So very mature.”

“I don’t want to see anyone hurt, I just wanted to be a mother to both of them and fix it,” she added.

Nikki opened up about the split to her sister Brie Bella and much like their mother, the breakup hit her hard.

“I just don’t want him to be lonely. And I don’t want him to regret not being a dad,” an emotional Brie said. “And that’s what makes me sad ’cause John feels like a brother and I hate thinking in my head that he’s gonna be alone.”

While the new mom felt for her sister, she understood and applauded her desire to experience motherhood firsthand.

“You and I are such hard workers and there’s times there’s been zero payoff, but when you have a baby, even if Birdie wakes me up five times in one night, the way she holds me, the way she smells, it’s like, you don’t care,” Brie admitted. “I want you to feel that.”

The couple worked hard to stay away from each other, but with the news of their breakup still a secret, Nikki felt forced to keep up appearances.

“At this point I feel like I’m living in a fake life,” Nikki confessed to the camera. “And I have to act like I’m still with John, but I’m not with John and I’m just dying inside.”

One thing Nikki wasn’t faking were her feelings for John. The Bella twin ran into her ex for the first time since their split backstage at Raw 25 and it’s clear her emotions are just as raw as the event by the same name.

“I’m supposed to stay away from you,” John admitted. “It’s taking every fiber of my being not to text or call you. I’m just trying to do the right thing.”

“I miss you so much,” John told Nikki. “I miss you too,” Nikki replied.

On the May 27 episode of ‘Total Bellas,’ Nikki Bella gets major anxiety while planning her wedding to John Cena. But how does he react to her cold feet? Here’s our recap!

Episode two of Total Bellas kicks off with exciting news for Nikki Bella — she’s been cleared by the WWE to wrestle again!. However, in her personal life, Nikki is still dealing with the struggle of wanting kids, but knowing her fiancee, John Cena, does not want to be a dad. The wedding planning is going full steam ahead, though, which sparks a discussion about honesty in Nikki and John’s relationship. First, Nikki tells John’s best friend, Rob, that he’s going to be the Best Man in the wedding…without filling John in first. Then, she admits to John that her dream wedding would take place in Napa Valley, even though she previously agreed to tying the knot in his Massachusetts hometown. John is on-board with Rob being his Best Man and having a wedding in Napa, but he’s concerned about the fact that Nikki has not been truthful with him about these things.

The discussion is tabled when family members arrive ahead of the pair’s engagement party. It turns out, someone else has news to share — Nikki and Brie’s brother, JJ’s, wife, Lauren, is pregnant! She decides to only confide in Brie about the news, though, since she wants the weekend to be all about Nikki and John. Luckily, there’s another opportunity for all eyes to be on the bride-to-be…when she goes wedding dress shopping! However, in her confessional, Nikki admits she’s not as excited about the milestone experience as she should be.

The engagement party brings Nikki even more anxiety, but she promises John that she’ll stop worrying about what might go wrong and focus on enjoying herself. He’s clearly concerned about her pre-wedding jitters, though, and lets her know that if she wants to back out of the wedding, that’s fine with him…she just needs to let him know. She’s not ready for that just yet, but is admittedly unable to get herself excited about the party. When the bash begins, John is laughing and hugging everyone, having a great time. However, Nikki confesses that she finds she’s forcing herself to smile and be happy about the celebration, but she can’t pinpoint why.

Later, Brie urges Lauren to blurt out that she and JJ are expecting…right in the middle of Nikki and John’s big party. As if Nikki wasn’t already stressed and upset enough, she now has to be reminded that yet another person around her is pregnant, while she’ll never have kids herself. It’s so overwhelming, that Nikki has to step away from the party for a minute, and she admits that she doesn’t want to go through life without having a baby.

After the party, John knows there’s something bothering his fiancee. She brushes it off, but eventually, knows she can’t hold it in any longer — during a trip to Napa, Nikki finally comes clean about her feelings. Through tears, she reveals why she’s seemed so distant lately: Having a niece has made her want kids more than ever, and she just doesn’t know if she won’t regret sacrificing that. John is understanding about the situation, but explains that he’s not surprised — because he told her so many times that this would happen. The episode ends with him suggesting they call off the wedding, and we’ll have to wait until next week to see what happens next…
