There could have been worse weeks for Nikki Bella to be voted off Dancing With the Stars’ ballroom floor. After lasting nearly two months into ABC stalwart’s 25th season, Nikki and her partner Artem Chigvintsev took their final bows the night before Halloween. But her fall was cushioned by, appropriately, twin accomplishments: the subsequent launch of her and sister Brie’s Birdiebee apparel brand and the season-seven premiere of Total Divas, on which she and Brie hold court as the show’s elder stateswomen.

Amid one of the more hectic few days of her professional career, the 33-year-old multi-time WWE Women’s champion (including a stint as longest-ever reigning Divas title holder) slowed down to discuss her multi-front pop-culture assault, supporting women who take a stand and all that IWC gossip about her taking over for brother-in-law Daniel Bryan as SmackDown GM.

Has this week been the most chaotic of your career?

It would have been if I was still on Dancing With the Stars, but even launching Birdiebee and promoting Total Divas and coming off of Total Bellas, it’s definitely one of the busiest weeks?

Was there measure of relief that you could pivot from DWTS and focus on everything else?

Actually, no. Because I’m so fortunate to have Brie and be in all these ventures with her, I really wanted to keep on dancing. I’m still a little bit in shock and sad, but I was having a lot of fun.

How does the fatigue of DWTS compare to that amount of time on a WWE tour?
I’ll admit: My body has not ever felt so sore and in so much pain. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever put my body through. Even last week, learning the jive, I felt like I was getting shin splints and needed knee replacements. I was like, “Oh my god, this is crazy.”

Where once the Miz was mocked for coming from reality TV, wrestlers’ recent reality appearances have legitimized sports entertainment. What changed?
Total Divas I feel like is the foundation of that, because it broke through that mainstream wall. When you appreciate that, people were like, “Oh, I wanna check out this show GLOW.” It opened up those doors more where mainstream people wanted to see what we were doing.

And I reality is also more mainstream, and wrestling fans are more pragmatic.
Yes, and in our world, we’ve evolved in breaking kayfabe. Because we’ve grown from that, it’s also been accepted that, “OK, we can see who they really are beyond the ring.”

The moment Kurt Angle was cleared by WWE doctors to wrestle at TLC, everyone in the pro wrestling community slowly turned their heads in the direction of Daniel Bryan.

If one onscreen WWE authority figure, with a history of neck injuries and concussions, can be cleared to wrestle than why not the other?

With maybe the only hurdle left to clear being a WWE’s doctor’s seal of approval, according to Brie Bella the SmackDown GM has been doing everything in his power to try and get back in the ring.

In interview today (Oct. 30) with SiriusXM Busted Open, Bella spoke about her husband’s desire for another pro wrestling run.

Listen again and hear Brie Bella’s tone when host David LaGreca brings up if Kurt Angle’s return has increased Daniel Bryan’s desire to make a comeback.

Maybe not a question of if but when Bryan returns to the squared circle, will it be with the WWE or another company?

The Bella Twins are slowly building an empire. They’re most famous for being the twin sisters who have dominated the WWE for ten years, but it’s much more than dropkicks and body slams these days. They’re reality TV stars, appearing in both Total Divas and Total Bellas, as well as philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and YouTubers.

As kids they grew up playing competitive soccer. Nikki played in college and won MVP at Grossmont College in San Diego. After graduating, they moved to Los Angeles to pursue an entertainment career.

It didn’t come easy: They waitressed, modeled, and took small acting gigs when they could.

“There were so many times that, as waitresses, you look at your bank account and you literally have 100 bucks and you’re thinking, ‘How am I going to pay my utility bill, my rent?’ But at the same time thinking, ‘How am I going to accomplish my dreams?’ And that’s how we got to cocktailing. We could have a full day, we could make more money, so we started planning and thinking, ‘How can we use the 24 hours in a day, while being a waitress, but still trying to get to your goal,’” remembers Brie.

They were always hustling, while pursuing their dreams.

Nikki said, “I started working at 15 and haven’t stopped since then. So I always knew that my bills get paid first and dreams come next. I would always make sure that I made my shifts, bills were paid, saving money, and then I’d start to do what I loved.”

Brie was the one who started thinking about wrestling as career. It combined everything that they loved: Entertainment and sports. “When Brie started showing me what the women were doing at WWE…That’s my calling! I get to be athletic, and I get to entertain, and be larger than life and be this character. And I get paid for it? It was like God came down and said, ‘This is it!’” said Nikki.
